The Hyatt Regency's are getting a new look for the New Year.
All Hyatt Regency's are about to start nearly $5 million worth of renovations to its 395 guest rooms and bath-rooms.
The result will be a more sophisticated, urban look. The Southwest color palette will be replaced with neutral tones such as beige and taupe and some blue accents in the furniture.
Carpeting and wall coverings will be replaced to add more contemporary contrasts to the design, said Hyatt officials. New light fixtures will be more energy efficient and each room will have a 32-inch flat panel television and an iHome alarm clock system that is compatible with an iPod.
New porcelain tiles, redesigned lighting, wall coverings and new fixtures will grace the bathrooms.
The hotel did put in about a half million dollars worth of new beds two years ago -- the Hyatt Grand Beds, developed for the hotel chain by Sealy. But the last time the Hyatt had a significant facelift was around 2000, so it's time, Holme said. It's typical for many hotels to renovate every five to eight years.
The lobby's will not be part of the renovations -- that's coming later, with design slated for 2008 and renovations in 2009. The onsite restaurant, McGrath's, will get about a half million dollars worth of renovations this summer. Moncur Designs of Toronto designed the new look for the rooms. The contractor is BGK Construction Service of Albuquerque.
